Expectations

Just because I don’t conform to your expectations
Of beauty, size, fitness or life-style
Doesn’t mean you have to inflict your intolerance
Onto me, through me or at me
Diversity should be embraced not criminalised -
Surely you think so?

I may have limitations and restrictions
But at least I’m not living in a rigid box
Full of contempt that’s dressed up as concern
I can also be at peace in knowing that
My honesty is as limitless as my compassion –
Can you say the same?
